Transferring from the studio to the app (with a QR code)

The design is done; now it goes to your account. There’s one rule, and it’s where people get stuck most often: the same account.

The transfer, step by step#

  1. Choose “Done” in the studio

    Press this button when your design is finished.

  2. Answer the community publishing question

    You’re asked whether you’d like your design published in community designs. You can skip it; your own process isn’t affected.

  3. Choose “Sign in to create”

    You sign in with your Apple or Google account.

  4. Open the My Invitation screen on your phone

    Go to the “My Invitation” screen in the app and tap Join at the bottom.

  5. Scan the QR code

    Scan the QR code in the studio with your phone. The system transfers the design and the details you entered automatically.

How should you scan the QR code?#

The most reliable way is to open the app and scan from “My Invitation → Join”. Your phone’s camera or a QR reader works too, but scanning from inside the app starts the transfer directly, so there are fewer steps. You can also carry on by tapping the link you’re given instead of scanning.

After the transfer#

If you filled in the studio’s invitation details screen with your real details, you won’t need to enter them again in the app; you go straight to the preview and sending steps. If you used placeholders, the app will ask for the details.

I get an error when I scan the QR code.
It’s almost always an account mismatch: the studio and the phone are signed into different Apple or Google accounts. Full checklist: QR and transfer problems.
Does the transfer cost anything?
No. You pay when you create the invitation in the app.
Can I change my design in the studio after transferring it?
Before the invitation is created in the app, you can go back to the studio, edit it and transfer it again. Once the invitation has been created, it can’t be edited.
